A Bridgewater police sergeant has filed a lawsuit against the township arguing that he was passed over a promotion to lieutenant because he was black, according to a report on mycentraljersey.com .
Gerald Nunnery, the department’s first black officer in a supervisory position, said he was denied assignments and promotions because of his race and for voicing complaints about a racially-hostile environment, according to the lawsuit filed in Superior Court.
